Abstract:	The main objective of this paper is to analyze the work Becos da Memória by author Conceição Evaristo and, based on the analysis, propose reflections on how the notions of Place, Nation and Belonging are represented in the narrative. The work to be analyzed, published in 2006, narrates the daily life of a favela from the perspective of Maria Nova who, through her experiences and memories, tries to give meaning to life, even amidst the complexities and helplessness of the environment in which she lives. Although it is not a biographical work, as the author states, the narrative was woven from fragments of her memory, which allows us to understand more deeply the real voices that can echo from narratives of a subjective nature. Assuming that there is a stereotypical reproduction of black characters in Brazilian literature, and that, in this way, their identity is erased, the investigations proposed here also seek to reflect on how memory is an important creative resource for Evaristo, a tool that contributes to the way in which the author constructs the narrative, based on her condition as a black woman, thus constructing places that provide the Afro-Brazilian nation with a sense of belonging and possibility, breaking with the racism and sexism that are intrinsically rooted in the process and feeling of non-belonging, which arises under the sign of imperial whiteness. Thus, based on intersectionality as an analytical and critical procedure, I propose this conversation in order to expand the analyses proposed here, focusing on the thinking of black feminists such as Lélia Gonzales (2018), Beatriz Nascimento (2018;2019), bell hooks (2019;2022), Angela Davis (2016), Audre Lorde (2020), Patrícia Hill Collins (2016), Grada Kilomba (2019), Djamila Ribeiro (2019), Sueli Carneiro (2019), among others, who were incorporated into the reflections to think about Evaristian writings.
