Abstract: The expansion of the wind energy occurs in Brazilian territories from an unfair distribution of costs and benefits of the installation of wind farms among the actors involved. This unfair distribution is related to the pre-existing racial inequalities in the places where the enterprises are located. The objective of this research was to analyze how the racial perspective can be incorporated into the discussion on a just energy transition in Brazil. To this end, a case study was carried out on a socio-environmental conflict between quilombola communities and wind energy enterprises in the southeast of Piauí. As methodological tools, bibliographical research, documentary analysis and semi-structured interviews with key actors were used. It is argued that the process of wind occupation in the semiarid northeastern follows a colonialist logic and reproduces environmental racism by the appropriation of territories and distribution of impacts on racialized communities. It is concluded that the jurisdiction that regulates the licensing of wind energy activities is based on the perception of low impact, the need for certification of affected communities and the lack of cohesion with other land policies of the peasantry and traditional communities. It is also concluded that the indirect impacts felt by communities are related to racial inequalities and historical marginalization of quilombola communities in the region. The quilombola social mobilization against environmental racism influenced the way in which unjust impacts were distributed
