Abstract:	The dissertation investigates the new aesthetics of protests in Brazil starting from June 2013, a turning point in the political and social transformation of the country, analyzing the tensions between insurgency, conservatism, and disputes in urban public space. The research is based on the premise that protest is a form of counter-language that subverts the logic of control in capitalist cities and reconfigures urban space through occupations and performative actions. These protests perform as a rupture in urban daily life, using symbolic violence and, in some cases, physical violence as tools for political communication and resistance. The dissertation draws on authors such as Jacques Rancière, Chantal Mouffe, Maria Rita Kehl, Marcos Nobre, Eugênio Bucci, Suely Rolnik, among others, to discuss political aesthetics, insurgent subjectivity, and the politicization of bodies in urban spaces. The research also explores how contemporary protests in Brazil shape the collective imagination while facing the risk of being aestheticized and absorbed by capitalism, thereby losing their critical character. In this context, the role of the media and social networks in constructing narratives about the protests contributes to the subversion of the subversive power of these actions, transforming them into visual spectacles. Furthermore, the study addresses the rise of new right-wing movements in Brazil and how these movements have transformed the aesthetics of protests into expressions of resentment and conservative exaltation. The dissertation concludes with a reflection on the contemporary challenge of resistance in urban space, questioning how to develop forms of contestation that escape the logic of commodification and can, indeed, generate structural changes in urban space and social relations.
