Abstract: The present work intends to offer an appraisal of the plastic collapse load for deep beams, built in high and conventional reinforced concrete. The analysis is based on a simplified elastoplastic iterative incremental model that utilizes the concepts of tangent consistent modular matriz together with the Ducker-Prager and Von Mises fluency criteria for numerical integration of the constitutive relations of reinforcement and concrete elements constituting the structure. The isoparametric formulation is adopted both for plane stress elements representing concrete as well as for bar elements representing reinforcement. The linkage between the two elements is described in details. Some results obtained by numerical modeling are compared with previous laboratory tested models presents in others works. Therefore, the plastic collapse loads obtained by both methods are compared in a way to delimit some parameters of the proposed computational model. A performance comparison of the results of the plastic collapse loads for different kinds of linear and quadratic elements representing concrete and reinforcement is given. Also, a refinement on the mesh of the examples is shown as well as its influence on the improvement of the results.
