Abstract:	Leptospirosis is a zoonosis that is widespread worldwide and affects different species of wild animals, posing a risk to public health, animal health and biodiversity. The aim of this work was to describe the presence of Leptospira spp. in mammals recently arrived at the CETAS (Wildlife Triage Center) of the Federal District, to characterize the species and their geographic distribution of capture. During the period from November 2017 to November 2018, samples of 114 mammals were collected in the institution. Of these, 113 were of blood serum and 39 of urine, submitted to microscopic agglutination test (MAT) and polymerase chain reaction (PCR), respectively. The place of capture of the individuals was registered at the time of their entry. Animals that arrived at CETAS-DF at death risk were excluded from the study. Didelphis albiventris and Callithrix penicillata represented the species most frequently referred to CETAS-DF during the study period. The animals came mainly from the regions of Asa Sul and Lago Sul. The presence of white-eared opossum (Didelphis albiventris) and black-tufted marmosets (Callithrix penicillata) in urban centers indicates the adaptation of these species in these environments. The Federal District has a high number of conservation units, facilitating the introduction of wild species in the city. Eight sera tested for leptospirosis were reagents for three different serovars (8/113, 7%), with titers varying from 100 to 200. Among the white-eared opossums (Didelphis albiventris), 6.9% (5/72) were serovar reagents Copenhageni with titers varying from 100 to 200, and one reagent to the serovar Ichterohaemorrhagiae (1/72 = 1.4%). Among the other positive species, one armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus) and one porcupine (Coendou prehensilis) were reactive with to the Butembo serovar with titer 100. None of the urine samples tested were positive in the PCR. The results demonstrate that the frequency of positive animals was low, with low titers indicating exposure to the infectious agent, but not necessarily active infection.
