Abstract:	The recycling of the mineral fraction of civil construction waste is seen as a potential source of aggregate generation. The concrete waste aggregates (ARC) are generally indicated for using in the production of new concretes. However, due to the old mortar adhered to the ARC, these have inferior quality to the natural aggregate. In the search to improve the characteristics of the ARC, several techniques have been developed, being one of the alternatives through the modification of the surface. This research has as general objective to evaluate the durability of concretes containing aggregates of concrete residue, submitted to treatments with Portland cement and grind, in partial substitution to the natural coarse aggregate in the contents of 20% and 50%. In order to evaluate the behavior of the concretes were carried out the tests of specific mass in the fresh state, consistency by the abatement of the cone trunk, simple compressive strength, tensile strength by diametrical compression, static modulus of elasticity to compression, water absorption by immersion, water absorption by capillarity, volumetric and superficial electrical resistivity, accelerated carbonation, non-stationary migration of chlorides, combined accelerated carbonation effect followed by the migration of non-stationary chlorides and scanning electron microscopy. It became evident that the utilization of ARC in the production of a new concrete produces negative effects in the properties these when compared to conventional. However, it was found that the adoption of treatments such as the grinding of the concrete residue aggregates and the two-stage mixing approach with 25% Portland cement proved to be viable alternatives to provide improvements in the aggregates of concrete residues. In addition to resulting in a concrete with good characteristics of mechanical properties and durability, it also enables the utilization of recycled aggregates and does not generate additional cost in the concrete production process.
