| dc.description.abstract | O objetivo deste relato de experiência é detalhar sobre o descarte de
materiais bibliográficos realizado na biblioteca universitária, com vistas para
a literatura na área de desenvolvimento de coleções que focam no objeto do
artigo. Embora a atividade de desfazer seja essencial, nem sempre é realizada
devido à insegurança e à escassez de tempo dos bibliotecários. À medida que
o tempo avança, as necessidades informacionais dos usuários se alteram, o
que se torna crucial uma revisão do acervo para satisfazer as novas
necessidades informativas, uma vez que surgem novas fontes de informação,
enquanto outras se tornam ultrapassadas. Portanto, as avaliações mantêm o
acervo em constante atualização e possibilita a realização de novas aquisições
para a biblioteca. Trata-se de uma pesquisa qualitativa, do tipo relato de
experiência e com levantamento bibliográfico sobre o tema. A biblioteca da
FCTE trata-se de uma unidade de informação setorial que integra o SiB-UnB.
O marco temporal do estudo compreende o ano de 2024 e 2025. O artigo
destaca a importância do desfazimento para o crescimento equilibrado do
acervo, atendendo às demandas dos usuários da unidade de informação e
obtendo pontuações cada vez mais elevadas nas avaliações do MEC.
Concluiu-se que o procedimento foi realizado com sucesso, porque foi
executado com planejamento e de acordo com todas as normativas legais

| dc.description.abstract1 | The objective of this experience report is to detail the weeding of bibliographic
materials carried out in the university library, with a view to the literature in
the area of collection development that focuses on the object of the article.
Although the activity of weeding is essential, it is not always carried out due
to insecurity and the lack of time of librarians. As time goes by, the information
needs of users change, which makes it crucial to review the collection to meet
new information needs, since new sources of information emerge, while
others become outdated. Therefore, evaluations keep the collection
constantly updated and allow new acquisitions for the library. This is qualitative research, of the experience report type, with a bibliographic survey
on the subject. The FCTE library is a sectoral information unit that is part of
the SiB-UnB. The study's time frame covers the years 2024 and 2025. The
article highlights the importance of the weeding for the balanced growth of
the collection, meeting the demands of the information unit's users and
obtaining increasingly higher scores in MEC evaluations. It was concluded that
the procedure was carried out successfully, because it was carried out with
planning and in accordance with all pertinent legal regulations. | pt_BR |
