Abstract: | The Brazilian agricultural scenario has shown significant changes, especially regarding the expansion of agricultural frontiers. This phenomenon has not only increased the country's production and exports, consolidating it as the third-largest global exporter of agricultural products and the leader in the production and export of grains but has also challenged the traditional urban-rural dichotomy. The transformations observed are not merely quantitative but represent a qualitative evolution that redefines interactions and dynamics between urban and rural spaces. The perception of rural areas, once associated with traditional agrarian activities and distant from urban centers, has been transformed. Agribusiness cities emerge as protagonists of a new territorial process, a phenomenon known as agropolization. Considering a restructuring of municipal boundaries aims to elucidate the new nuances of Brazilian territorial dynamics, permeated by the expansion of agricultural fronts and the rise of new spatial realities in the country, envisioning a perceptive spatial representation that highlights its interrelation with existing infrastructures and those yet to be implemented. The purpose is not only to provide cartographic clarity but also to deepen understanding of the complexities inherent in municipal projection in space, which could trigger the optimization of latent potentials in a given area. For this, it begins with a conceptual review identifying processes and emerging characteristics of rural territories, products of globalized agribusiness, based on Canáles and Ceron and Elias. Next, as a way to corroborate the discussions, spatial analysis tools are applied through GIS in the municipality of Luis Eduardo Magalhães, in the state of Bahia, Northeast Brazil, allowing for the identification of various spaces, with emphasis on municipal productive areas, and confrontation with the previously discussed concepts, shedding light on a new intramunicipal characterization and delimitation. This analysis revealed important conclusions, highlighting that in cities focused on agribusiness and municipalities with vast territorial extensions, significant expansion is observed in productive areas, peri-urban regions that require attention, regulation, and effective integration into territorial planning and development tools. |
