Abstract:	The author studies the dynamics of the relations between Brazil and France and the Western Europe. He analyses that the so-called Brazilian placement away from Europe, compared to her privilege towards the US, is mainly resulted from the will of the new Brazilian republic to set herself away of the model of the Imperial diplomacy linked to the European fora, in behalf of a diplomacy towards the American republicanism of the 1800 s. The author regards the perceptions that the French had over Brazil and the perceptions of Brazilians on France, in waves of deepening and lowering of Brazilian relations towards the US. The writer draws a chronograph of such relations, weighing the long period of mutual ignorance, leading to the relation renewal, analyzing the sustainability of this joint entrepreneurship in a non-strictly commercial agenda.
