Abstract:	The baby plays since the first months of life, plays with its own body, and plays with other people and with the environment that surrounds it, and from this experience it learns and develops. Advancing in an understanding of the subjective processes that emerge in the baby's experience of free play is important, as it can favor greater quality in the practices of care and education of babies. This study aims to understand the baby's free play experience in the day care center, from a subjectivity perspective, in order to generate intelligibility about the subjective processes involved in this experience, which may favor the baby's development. It is González Rey's Theory of Subjectivity that provides the theoretical assumptions for this research, which was carried out in an Educational Center for Early Childhood in the Federal District (CEPI). The research brings discussions about concepts of theory and epistemology and articulates them with questions about approaches and educational methods of Early Childhood Education and a new perspective on the development of the baby and on his free playing, as an experience that can open new paths of development. subjectivation. The methodological challenge was faced with the Qualitative Epistemology approach, which for the study of subjectivity rescues the subject in the research and is characterized by the dialogic and constructive-interpretative character of knowledge. Thus, it is with the Constructiveinterpretive Methodology that the construction of knowledge is elaborated, from indicators and hypotheses, which evidence subjective processes in babies, which in this research, are active participants. It is concluded that in free play at daycare, babies subjectively produce and develop from processes that involve autonomy, imagination and agency.
