Abstract:	Rio de Janeiro carnival is inherently linked to Brazilian culture, identity and imaginary. In the case of samba school, floats are an indispensable scenic element. These enormous and creative structures make up the carnival narrative presented by samba schools. At the parade, they are integrated into the context of music, dance, choreographies and costumes that characterize the presentation. However, in the moments before and after the parade, the floats are carried and parked in the city streets, presenting themselves as fragment of the carnival narrative in the urban spaces. An element extracted from its original context. The photograph can also be approached as a fragment of a reality that happened in the past. Departing from a presentation of an authorial photographic narrative about the floats in the Sambrodromo vicinities, this article presents aspects related to landscape, representation, fotographies and the Rio de Janeiro carnival. It registers the analogy between the floats separated from the context of carnival parade and the photographies separated from the context in which the photographic register was taken.
