Abstract:	At the beginning of the 21st century, Brazil witnessed the creation of the Technological Professional Education Network, with emphasis on the Federal Institutes of Education, Science and Technology. Over the last decade, they have expanded throughout Brazil, with one of their units being the Federal Institute of the North of Minas Gerais, Campus Arinos. Implemented in 2009 to meet the socioeconomic needs of the Urucuia River Valley, it currently has three technical courses integrated into high school and five higher courses. Given its potential, this research sought to understand the relationship between the implementation of the Campus of the Federal Institute of Northern Minas Gerais and the production of urban space in Arinos, as well as the socio-spatial inclusion of the population served. For that, interviews were carried out with the general director, coordinators of teaching, research and extension, first servers, representatives of the entities involved in the creation of the Campus (ACOMAR, ADESA and ADSIVRU), representatives of local commerce; application of questionnaires together with students, graduates and residents; as well as documentary research. The main results are: the recognition of the Federal Institutes as a public space policy, as they are present in different parts of the national territory, establishing new spatial relationships, and their implementation is the result of an articulation between different sectors of local and regional society who believed in the power of education to change the reality of the Urucuia River Valley; the contribution to the socio-spatial inclusion of the population of Arinense and of the Urucuia River Valley, through the realization of its teaching, extension and research projects, which act on local demands and instigate the participatory, integral and citizen education of its students, as well as to the diversification and expansion in the offer of courses, in the professional insertion of its graduates; in the permanence of young people in the city; and also, the increase in the flow of capital, goods and information. Thus, it is possible to affirm that the Federal Institute Campus is an important element in the production process of the urban space of Arinos, establishing new spatial uses, from an educational and political perspective.
