Abstract: The researches try to explain the relationship between socially responsible practices and small-business performance (SMEs) focuses on the effects of spontaneous actions and does not discuss impacts on financial performance. As a consequence, they don´t measure social performance to the necessary depth and don´t generate relevant implications for the financial planning of SMEs .However, in this object, there is little evidence of the allocation of financial resources to meet stakeholder demands, especially under the assumptions of Slack resources theory. Considering the tradition of this field in the use of perception data and transverse temporal cut, this thesis seeks to complement the already achieved results, using data measures structured in panel form, with the application of longitudinal cut. The sample is made up of 128 micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from the industry, commerce and services sectors, with a total of 662 observations distributed between 2010 and 2015. Three studies are added to the literature on social and financial performance In SMEs, which include the measurement of social performance through compulsory and spontaneous financial expenses, with three stakeholders: employees, customers and the community, and the financial´s measurement performance through measures of sales growth, accounting return and financial freedom. In the first study, the financial´s profile expenses with stakeholders was analyzed from groups of companies with different profiles of financial conditions, applying cluster analysis and variance analysis (ANOVA / MANOVA). It was identified that companies´clusters with better financial conditions have a higher level of compulsory and spontaneous expenses with employees than companies´s clusters with lower financial conditions. In the second, the financial performance was compared from groups of companies with different profiles of stakeholder spending, also applying cluster analysis and variance analysis (MANOVA). The results indicate that companies´clusters with better financial results have a medium level of expenditures, obligatory and spontaneous, among the stakeholders. In the third research, we tested the temporal relationships between financial results and expenses with stakeholders, in three time scenarios: t, t + 1 and t + 2, using ordinary least squares regressions and fixed effects models. It was identified that previous financial results aren´t predictors of total expenditures with stakeholders, but there are positive effects of financial backlash on spontaneous expenses with employees, and on customer expenses, as well as profitability on these last expenses. We also identified negative effects of total expenditures with stakeholders, employee expenditures and client spending on financial performance, and positive effects of community spending on sales. These results broaden the theory by showing the amounts of mandatory and spontaneous financial expenses per stakeholder of SMEs with different financial conditions and the differences in the financial performance of SMEs with different profiles of obligatory and spontaneous spending with stakeholders. For the management of SMEs, the results contribute to improving the effectiveness of financial planning, highlighting, by stakeholder, the compulsory and spontaneous expenses that increase or destroy financial performance.
