Contribuição para a fonologia da língua apiaká (tupí-guarani)

Abstract

Esta dissertação percorreu os passos preliminares da análise da fonética e fonologia da língua Apiaká, pertencente à família lingüística Tupí-Guaraní, tronco Tupí. Os estudos anteriores desta língua consistiam em pequenas listas de palavras coletadas por estudiosos e viajantes dos séculos XIX e XX, salvo um inventário de sons depreendidos de um questionário padrão aplicado por Sarah Gudschinsky (1959). O presente trabalho procurou fazer uma análise fonética demonstrando a ambiência de ocorrência dos sons da língua. Posteriormente, foi realizado um estudo da fonologia segmental. Finalmente, foram abordadas as implicações sociais a que a comunidade Apiaká está sujeita, devido ao iminente desaparecimento de seu idioma. _______________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT

In this thesis a preliminary phonetic and phonological analysis of the Apiaká language, which belongs to the Tupi-guarani family of the Tupi stock, was worked out. The previous studies on this language consisted in small word-lists collected by travelers and researchers in the XIX and XX centuries. The unique exception is an analysis of sounds extracted from a standard questionnaire applied by Sarah Gudschinsky (1959). The present work aimed at an analysis of the phonetics and distribution patterns of the sounds of this language, as well as a posterior study on the phonology. In the end, the social implications to which the Apiaká community is subject, due to the imminent extinction of its language, is scrutinized.
