Abstract: The genus Passiflora has a large number of species that are associated with health benefits, and in Brazil are more than 150 species. However, despite its large diversity and benefits, only the yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims.) is cultivated on a commercial scale, representing more than 95% of the orchards due to the quality of its fruit, productivity and the yield of its juice. Among the lesser-known species, there is the sururuca passion fruit or (Passiflora setacea DC). A wild species that is poorly studied, specially in relation to spread, germination and storage conditions, but has potential for fresh fruit market and/or juice processin or a large amount of other type of food. Given the above, the objective of this study was to evaluate chemical and antioxidant properties of P. setacea under different doses of potassium fertilizer. The variety of P. setacea used in the study was the BRS Pérola do Cerrado. The test was conducted in 50L plant vases containing typical Cerrado soil. K fertilization was carried out using potassium chloride as traditional potassium source, and two rocks as potassium sources. The two rocks used were biotite schist with 3.5% of K2O and phonolite with 8.0% K2O. In the fertilization with potassium chloride, the following doses were adopted: 50, 100, 150 and 200 mg of K dm-3. In the fertilization with the two rocks equivalent doses were tested at 50 and 100 mg of K dm-3. In the control treatment, the potassium fertilization was not performed. To evaluate the quality of P. setacea, the pulp of the fruit and the leaves were analyzed. For the pulp, soluble solids, pH, titratable acidity, ratio of total soluble solids and titratable acidity, color, potassium content, total carotenoid content, ascorbic acid content, content of phenolic compounds, antioxidant potential in vitro by DPPH and FRAP were determined. And, for the leaves, the concentration of phenolics and antioxidant activity in vitro by DPPH and FRAP were determined. The potassium content of the soil was evaluated before the harvest of the fruits and leaves so the most possible correlation with the different qualitative variables was obtained. It was adopted the experimental delineation in randomized blocks with 9 treatment and four blocks. The results were submitted to ANOVA and subsequently Tukey test for comparison of means between treatments. It carried out correlation analysis between the content of potassium in the soil before harvest and qualitative variables of the pulp and the leaves. The chemical pulp quality and antioxidant properties of P. setacea were not significantly influenced by potassium fertilization, except for the color and antioxidant potential in vitro by FRAP. Regarding the antioxidant properties in the leaves, there was significant difference in vitro antioxidant capacity by FRAP. When the correlation between the potassium before harvest and the variables related to quality of the pulp and the leaves were analysed, no significant coefficients were not obtained, except for the variable ascorbic acid content in the pulp and antioxidant potential in vitro by FRAP in the leaves. From the results obtained, is possible to conclude that, in general, the potassium fertilization does not affect the variables related to chemical quality and antioxidant properties of the pulp and the leaves of the P. setacea. In addition to that, the leaves of P. setacea stand out by a high content of phenolic compounds and antioxidant potential and may be considered an important alternative for the chemical industry and pharmaceutical industry.The genus Passiflora has a large number of species that are associated with health benefits, and in Brazil are more than 150 species.
