| Abstract: | This study aimed to evaluate the fermentation potencial using the in vitro gas production technique and degradability of dry matter (DMD) of the macaúba co-products (Acrocomia aculeata), validating the use of in vitro gas production method used in ruminants to pigs. Two experimental trials were performed in the first trial were used as inoculum: pig cecum raised in a free range system (CSF), swine ceca raised in a conventional confined system (CSC) and bovine rumen fluid (LRB). In the second trial were used the same swine inoculums (CSF and CSC), but it was used sheep rumen fluid (LRO). The substrates used were derived from a swine diet (basal diet) based in soybean meal and corn grits according to the nutritional requirements of swines. To establish the substrates, were set different levels of substitution of basal diet by meal almond Acrocomia aculeata (AA), as follows: BAS - 100% of basal diet; M10 - 90% of basal diet and 10% AA; M20 - 80% of basal diet and 20% AA and TF - Tifton 85 hay (Cynodon spp.). In the second test the substrates used were: almond meal (TAM) and pulp of Acrocomia aculeata (TPM), where the meals were waste products obtained from the macaúba oil extraction, Cassava peels and freeze-dried corn silage (SIL). All substrates were previously subjected to the grinding process. Gas production was evaluated at times 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 16, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hours after incubation, analyzing the maximum potential of gas production (A) lag time (L) and gas production rate (μ). D was assessed at 24 and 96 hours. The experimental design was completely randomized in a factorial arrangement 4 x 3. The data A, L, μ and DMD were subjected to analysis of variance and means compared by Tukey`s 5% test. Comparing the inoculum for A (ml / gDM) in the first trial, LRB and CSF showed similar values, differing only for TF, showing similarity between these two inoculums. In the second trial, the parameter A (ml / gDM) was evaluated by inoculum and there was no difference between the inoculums to the TPM substrate. The CSC inoculum presented higher values of A for TAM and CM, and TAM in the CSF did not differ from LRO and in CM the LRO inoculum showed the lowest value for A. The inoculums studies showed proximity relative to the production of gases and degradability of the dry matter, especially among bovine rumen fluid and pig cecum created outdoors, showing similarity between these inoculums. |
