| Abstract: | The main goal of this dissertation is to analyze the influence of social capital on organizational performance from the firms of the Territorial Agglomeration of Textiles and Clothes of Brusque. This study adopts two dimensions of social capital suggested by Nahapiet and Ghoshal (1998) - the structural and relational dimension. This research analyzes if the structure of the network and the quality of relationships are factors that significantly influence the performance of the firms in this cluster. Additionally, this study aimed to investigate whether the variables of the relational dimension (trust, identity, norms and obligations) and the structural dimension (network ties, network configuration and appropriable organizations) present in the study of Nahapiet and Ghoshal (1998) are also observed in this work. In order to obtain the empirical findings, this study conducted a quantitative survey applying descriptive statistics, correlation and structural equation modeling. The instrument of data collection was adapted from the study of Macke, Toss & Vallejo (2010). Through the measurement model and the structural model of the structural equation system, coefficients were estimated for each type of relationship between the items on the questionnaire with the constructs - Structural Dimension of Social Capital, Relational Dimension of Social Capital and Performance - as well as between constructs themselves. Subsequently, it was carried out the test of bootstrap, the analysis of reliability and variance extracted in order to verify the level of quality of this model. Correlation analysis was also used to examine the relationship between the control variables adopted in this study (size, age, type and stage of the production process) with the variables from the relational and structural dimension of social capital. In this way, it was possible to identify that the variables - network ties, network configuration and appropriable organizations - significantly explain the structural dimension of social capital while the variables - trust, identity and norms - the relational dimension. The organizational performance is significantly influenced by the physical network structure, in other words, the structural dimension. Although the relational dimension is presented, it seems that the organizations do not get the benefits derived from the relational dimension that could positively impact the performance. It was not possible to find significant relationships between the control variables and the variables of the relational and structural dimension of social capital, except for the variable type of firm which presents significant and negative correlation with the relational dimension of social capital. The main goal of this dissertation is to analyze the influence of social capital on organizational performance from the firms of the Territorial Agglomeration of Textiles and Clothes of Brusque.
